Introduction: The Uyghur Mother Tongue Information Center, established on February 2, 2024, is an international hub affiliated with the «Shahrbano Tahir Balilars Foundation.» Our mission is to preserve, promote, and develop the Uyghur language, culture, and heritage, particularly within the Uyghur diaspora.
Objectives:
Resource Provision: Supply educational materials for Uyghur language learning, including textbooks, teaching materials, and cultural content such as music, films, and Uyghur folk songs.
Awareness and Advocacy: Raise awareness about the critical role of the Uyghur language and culture. Advocate for the rights of Uyghur speakers and address the challenges they face in various regions.
Publications: Publish books, articles, and journals related to Uyghur language, literature, and cultural studies. Encourage research and contribute to the academic discourse on the Uyghur language.
Community Engagement: Facilitate Uyghur language-related activities, competitions, and events to engage the community. Collaborate with schools, educators, and learners to enhance Uyghur language education.
Research and Development: Support research in linguistics, psycholinguistics, stylistics, applied linguistics, comparative linguistics, descriptive linguistics, neurolinguistics, dialectology, lexicography, and discourse analysis related to the Uyghur language.
Challenges: The Uyghur Mother Tongue Information Center acknowledges the challenges posed by the Chinese government’s restrictive policies, including censorship, control over Uyghur language materials, suppression of Uyghur cultural expressions, and interference with Uyghur language education.
